An import is not discarded because one attempt fails. Confirmed local records are not silently deleted when iCloud, calendars, or a subscription are temporarily unavailable.

Start with these three steps

Most import, sync, and reminder issues can be recovered without deleting data.

1. Read the inline status

Do not submit repeatedly. Look for queued, partial, retry, or permission guidance on the current screen.

2. Keep the original input

Source files and edits survive recoverable import failures. Retry or continue with manual confirmation.

3. Check system settings

Review iCloud, network, notification, or calendar permission. Denial does not block local planning.

Common questions

Import and confirmation

Recognition must be confirmed before it can affect actions, reminders, calendars, or sharing.

A photo, PDF, or text source was not recognized. What should I do?

Keep the current import batch and retry. If system language models are unavailable, continue with on-device rules and manual editing. Verify the learner, date, school time zone, and evidence before confirming.

Why is an item marked low confidence or conflict?

The source may be ambiguous, multiple sources may disagree, or a date or location needs judgment. SchoolSignal does not choose silently; compare the evidence and correct each field before committing.

How many quota units does an import use?

A smart import is consumed atomically at the final commit boundary. Retrying the same import job does not consume again. Rules-only sources such as ICS follow the current explanation shown in the App.

Why is Tomorrow Readiness missing?

Check the learner, school time zone, and whether tomorrow is a school day, then retry or regenerate from Readiness. The App refreshes tomorrow plans after onboarding, confirmed imports, schedule changes, launch, foregrounding, and school-day rollover.

iCloud and system features

Sync, sharing, notifications, and calendars

Is my data safe when iCloud is unavailable?

Core records remain on the device. A sync task stays recoverable and a local save is not presented as a cloud success. After connectivity returns, retry from Settings → iCloud and sharing.

How do I share with family?

The owner selects learner scope and read-only or editing access in Settings → Household sharing, then invites through Apple’s sharing sheet. Apple Family Sharing for a subscription is independent of school-data sharing.

Why did a notification not arrive?

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → SchoolSignal, the App reminder settings, the school time zone, and that the item was confirmed. Focus modes, summaries, and system scheduling can affect delivery; do not use a notification as the only high-consequence reminder.

What if a calendar link is duplicated or missing?

SchoolSignal updates App-created or linked items with stable identifiers. First retry the system-surface refresh in the App. If an event was deleted outside the App, the local action remains and can be linked again.

Subscriptions

Purchase, trial, and restoration

How do I restore a purchase?

Open Settings → Subscription → View plans, then choose Restore Purchases. Use the Apple ID that made the purchase and keep the App Store available. A failed restoration does not delete local data.

Who receives the 14-day trial?

It applies only when the App Store explicitly shows a trial on the annual plan and Apple determines the account is eligible. The monthly plan has no trial. The purchase sheet controls the exact end date, price, and currency.

How do I cancel?

Use iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. After cancellation, access ends on the date shown by Apple and existing data remains.

Data management

Backup, erasure, and complete exit

Export a backup first

Create a ZIP in Settings → Export or restore backup and save it somewhere you control. It may contain sensitive household information.

Clear only this device

Use Settings → Clear Local Data. The preview covers records, notifications, calendar links, and system surfaces, but it does not automatically delete iCloud data or cancel a subscription.

Delete iCloud data

The owner uses the separate two-confirmation flow in iCloud settings. It can affect other devices and shared members, and an offline request remains pending.

Cancel the subscription

Finally cancel in Apple account subscription management. The App cannot directly remove Apple purchase records or stop billing on your behalf.

Write to help@applover.top. Include the App version and build, iOS version, device model, visible status, and reproducible steps. By default, do not attach a child’s name, school, original notice, OCR content, or complete backup.

Consider a sanitized diagnostic firstThe export from Settings → Diagnostics excludes notice text, OCR content, learner nicknames, schools, amounts, attachments, and CloudKit identifiers. Send it only if you choose to.
